Based on current program terms and conditions, the final potential intake week for the 2020 COVID-19 Beef Emergency Feed Initiative would have opened January 18, 2021 for cattle to be set aside beginning January 25, 2021.
The Beef Industry Committee, comprised of Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs staff and industry representatives, reviewed industry data and determined that the threshold for an intake for January 18 and 19, 2021 was not met based on program criteria, which included an assessment of recent processing data in Ontario. The ministry has reviewed the recommendation provided by the Beef Industry Committee and has confirmed their recommendation.
