Farmers have more time to secure coverage for Production Insurance Spring Policy this year. As farmers are facing increased uncertainty about markets and input costs this year, an extension gives them more time to make important planting decisions for the year ahead. Farmers now have until May 16 to apply for or make changes to their 2022 spring coverage.
This extension gives farmers more time to make planting and other farm business decisions and still have time to get coverage for the commodities they choose to plant.
Production Insurance covers yield reductions and production losses caused by factors beyond a farmer's control, including adverse weather, disease, pests, wildlife or other uncontrollable natural perils.
All the program information farmers need to make decisions about coverage is coming in early April, by mail and on agricorp.com, including rates, forms and program updates.
