With colder temperatures on the way, many Ontario winter wheat farmers can take comfort in knowing their crops are covered against risks beyond their control. Nearly 700,000 acres of winter wheat are insured under Production Insurance for 2019, similar to the five-year average.

Keep in touch
Now that crops are planted and insured, farmers should contact Agricorp if they have questions about their coverage or if their crop is affected by an insured peril that may result in damage. Agricorp can help explain program options to customers and get them started on the next steps.
About Production Insurance
From seeding until harvest,
Production Insurance helps farmers protect their businesses against challenges such as adverse weather, disease, wildlife and insect infestations. Production Insurance guarantees farmers a level of production based on their yield history and the level of coverage they choose. A claim may be paid if an insured peril causes a farmer's yield to fall below their guaranteed production.
About AgriStability
AgriStability provides whole farm coverage designed to cover large declines in net income caused by adverse market conditions, production losses or increased production costs. It protects farm income as a whole instead of one commodity at a time. If a producer's margin falls below 70 per cent of their recent average, AgriStability helps to offset the difference.
About RMP: Grains and Oilseeds
The Risk Management Program (RMP) plan for grains and oilseeds is designed to cover losses caused by fluctuating costs and market prices. Payments are made if the average market price for a commodity falls below its support level.
