It is renewal time for Production Insurance Fall Policies, including
winter wheat. With planting underway for fall-seeded crops, now is the time for farm businesses to secure insurance coverage going into the winter season and to make sure their investments are protected.
Farmers who are interested in protecting their fall-seeded crops with a guaranteed level of production and replanting coverage have until November 8 to apply for Production Insurance. Farmers can get winterkill coverage for winter wheat, winter barley and winter canola, which means they have coverage if the crop does not survive the winter.
If farmers do not sign up for winterkill coverage by November 8, they can still apply for winter wheat coverage without winterkill in the spring.
Renewal notices are in the mail
Customers are receiving their Production Insurance renewals this month. Taking the time to review the Renewal Notice helps to ensure coverage is accurate and reflects the farm's current business. This way, customers pay only for the coverage they need and receive the right compensation in the event of a claim.
While reviewing their packages, customers can consider whether their coverage is meeting their current farm needs.
- What's happening in their industry that could affect their business?
- Have they reviewed their coverage levels?
- Do the coverage levels still provide the best value and coverage?
